The advantages of a smart kitchen
Tech companies are knocking on the door of devices that allow us to order or cook food. We're not there yet, but smart kitchen appliances provide homeowners with useful information. It will tell you if the fridge door is open or if there is a problem with the dishwasher. The microwave notifies you when your food is ready, and you can monitor your smart cooking device with your smartphone to find out if it's at the right temperature.
These improvements mean you don't have to wait for a problem to occur to know it is. How many people grew up knowing they left the fridge open because the milk was warm or the ice melted?
Most of us have a morning routine of waking up, going to the kitchen, turning on the coffee filter, making breakfast, and half asleep. Then you run out of milk and feel like you're missing half the ingredients for your later dinner plan. The kitchen fills with smoke until the toast burns, and you turn on the ventilation; the day is off to a bad start, and you have to eat breakfast.
Now imagine this other scenario. You walk into the kitchen, still half asleep, the coffee is made, and the milk and ingredients for dinner are delivered to your home. The speaker is reading the news. The toast is burning, but the smart sensor of the kitchen pan instantly switches on and removes the smoke. You can enjoy a leisurely breakfast and start a busy day. All of this is possible with a smart plug or switch that controls your kitchen appliances.
The latter scenario may sound like science fiction, but if not now, then in the near future. Technology is quickly permeating our plain old kitchens, transforming them from simple cooking spaces to functional spaces.
Integrated technologies or the Internet of Things will make supermarkets a thing of the past. We're already seeing smart kitchens, voice-activated devices that help foodies cook at home, perfect recipes by reading instead of tediously scrolling through yesterday's pages, and motion-sensing faucets that prevent water wastage. In the future, it will be possible to check the contents of the fridge and order and deliver the food you need while sitting at your desk.
Of course, there's more to the smart kitchen, including groceries, coffee machines, ovens, and dishwashers. Intelligent gadgets like IoT devices can be programmed remotely to work per your requirements. So instead of waiting for the oven to preheat before adding ready-to-eat food, turn on the oven on the way home, so it's ready to eat as soon as you walk in the door. The smart kitchen can also report any gas leaks so you can take appropriate action before entering the house.
As you can see, kitchens integrated with home automation technology are quickly being introduced into our kitchens. Soon, the future of the kitchen becomes present.
